Who will win the NFL 2010 SuperBowl ?

They say there’s nothing that can make you look more stupid than predictions, so, here I go again.

The 2010 NFL season start is a mere estimated 48 hours away, and I, like the rest of you football nuts can’t wait for the season to get under way.  There is of course, much to look forward to and anticipate throughout the seasons beginnings.  And everyone has hopes for their teams. (Even if you’re a Bucs fan, you are undefeated as of this moment!)

With the season, comes the predictions of who, what, when, where and how. And here are my predictions for the winners of the seasonal awards.

2010 NFL Coach of the Year; Mike Singletary (San Francisco 49ers); Big Mike has had this team on the up and up since taking over midway through 2008.  Last year they were expected to make some big moves forward, they lost a lot of steam after the Vikings Favre miracle pass and never fully recovered.  This year, with a favorable schedule and a much improved O-line, an admirable receiving crew, a healthy Frank Gore.  Mike has brought this team together; I think they make a big move in the right direction in 2010.

2010 NFL MVP of the Year;  Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers, QB) Rodgers loaded the stat sheet last year  with 4,434 yds and 30 tds, leading the Pack to an 11-5 record (if not for Favre’s 2-0 destiny win games vs his old team, they may have ended up with 12-13 wins) Rodgers is the real deal, he will lead this team far and will again put up monster numbers, he is going to be an elite guy for another 10 years in the NFL.

2010 NFL Offensive player of the Year Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings RB) #28 scored 18 touchdowns last year.  Many critics seem to concentrate on the fumbling issue he had, but let’s not push aside the dominance he had scoring the ball.  He still ran for 1,383 yards, had a career high 43 receptions out of the backfield.  He knows the fumble issue needs to be addressed, and he knows the lack of big 100+ yard games last year.  I expect AP to burn it up this season, as the Vikes continue to propel for the Bowl.

2010 NFL Defensive player of the Year Patrick Willis (San Francisco 49ers, LB) Willis, the 24 year old linebacker can do it all.  He can defend the pass, doesn’t miss tackles, 359 over last 3 years.  He will again amass over 100 tackles, I am sure. There are a few certainties in life, death, taxes and Willis making loads of stops.

2010 NFL Offensive rookie of the Year Ryan Matthews (San Diego, RB) Coming into the perfect situation, and yet a lot is anticipated from the 22 year old running back.  Taking LT’s place is certainly some big cleats to fill, but Matthews will be playing in great weather most of the time, only 2 games with any threat of bad weather.  He is going to be fine and open a lot of eyes.  I’m expecting 1,100+ yds and 8-10 tds.

2010 NFL Defensive rookie of the Year Rolando McClain (Oakland Raiders, LB) The 260 lb LB from Alabama will be roaming the middle for the “Raidahs” I think he will be a beast in the NFL, with a very good career ahead of him, even if he is playing for Al Davis.  He’ll be challenged early in the season, we’ll see how he is fast.

2010 NFL AFC Champion Baltimore Ravens

2010 NFL NFC Champion Green Bay Packers

2010 NFL SuperBowl Champion Baltimore Ravens; I can’t begin to tell you how much this hurts to put this prediction out there, because I hate the Ravens. From top to bottom this team has what it takes to win it all, in my opinion.  Running back.  Check.  Ray Rice (1,339 yds,  7 tds,  78 catches out of the backfield ) is amazing, and will only be better.  Stopping the run.  Check.  The Ravens in 2009 ranked 5th against the run in the NFL, only giving up 93.3 a game on the ground.  Stopping opponents from scoring the ball.  Check.  They only gave up 16.3 ppg in 2009.  Good quality QB. Check.  Joe Flacco, silently had a very pleasant season (3,613 yds, 21 tds, 63% completion, three 300 yard games on the year.)and still no one really gives him much credit, when he really didn’t have a lot to throw to.  While we are at it, how about Wide Recievers? Check.  Adding Anquan Boldin and now TJ Houshmandzadeh ?  They now have guys who can catch and run after the play.  With all of this going on, this team is going to be dangerous.  They are my pick to win the Bowl this year……man it makes my stomach roil.  Did I mention how much I hate the Ravens?
